Sad, Fun Post

Here's how it goes! Received an email from Holt's aunt Marti on Tuesday (teacher friend). She had news that a student that was in my homeroom a couple years ago had lost her battle with cancer. What? I immediately was trying to figure out if she was sick when I had her. Surely I would have known about it. Anyways, she was just diagnosed recently and obviously it was very aggressive.

It didn't really strike me until I saw her sweet face on the funeral home website. Yip, she looked just like I remembered. I had the privilege to teach her in math and science that year and tutored her after school. WOW! What happened and why her???

So, I am sad just thinking of her life and the hole that is now left in her sweet family. And to think of all the 8th graders at CMS who have been hit square in the face with death. They are just too young. Russ and I will attend the funeral tomorrow to remember her and to celebrate her short life. And as I was chatting with Lynelle about this the other day... it was clear to us that it's so hard to come to grips that death comes in all ages.

Oh, and she was my TOP artist that year. I have almost all of her projects in my attic that I kept as examples. WOW!! I will never forget her and I pray that I impacted her life in some way... b/c she will always be in mine.

NOW SOME FUN!

Holt helped Russ finish up some yard work last night. He was scared of the blower, but wouldn't you be too if your dad blew it directly in your face, oh, at least a couple inches from your nose. Sheesh

And here's Holt in fine form sportin' his diaper outside. We were out there a total of 5 minutes and I was miserable the rest of the evening. You might notice the watery, red eyes in the bottom picture. I HATE ALLERGIES! And so does Russ b/c it keeps me from mowing.

And Holt is trying to wave!! Goodbye until next time!!
