1. Watching TV. Yes, it pollutes the mind... but it's what we do most evenings while mom cooks dinner. Stop judging me!
2. Sleep. Marin was finishing out a power nap on our bed and Trixie decided to join in. Or maybe it was the other way around. I can't remember.
And I kid-not... this how he was napping one day. Isn't it great!
3. Play-doh. Holt loves him some play-doh. We usually break it out once a day, parade it around the house, followed by mom picking up the dropped pellets, repeat, repeat, repeat. And then game over. He has cookie cutters that go with the play-doh, but he likes to make snakes and balls most of the time.
4. Water. Okay, anything that involves water is a must during the summer. We bought a kiddie pool for the kids and this sprinkler. It does not take much prodding to get Holt in the pool, but he's not too sure of the sprinkler, which resembles snakes dancing around spitting water at you. Can't say I blame him. So, we as such good parents just drag him thru it.
And I note in the minutes of this blog post that we play in the backyard... in the water... in true redneck style — jean shorts, bare feet, and our underwear/diapers.
5. Eat. Nothing passes the summer heat like some grease from McD. We met Aunt Marti and Aunt Lisa for lunch one day. Holt was showing Auntie M how to work mom's iPhone. See the pile of fries? Everytime Auntie M listened well and got the answer correct, Holt would reward her with a fry. Just kidding... but that would have been funny!
6. Be Cute. And when all else fails... just throw a bow on this little girl. That will always make the summer heat fade far, far away.
