Conversations with Holt

It was Sunday evening. We were trying to get ready and get out of the house for dinner. Marin was walking around crying, Trixie was barking at the dog next door, and Holt was running, yelling and screaming thru the house. Russ was trying to get his shoes on and comfort Marin at the same time. And I was just about to lose it and pull ALL of my hair out of my head. And then the noise stopped...

Holt: Mommmmmmmmy (screaming)
Me: Yes
Holt: Mommmmmmmmy (screaming)
Me: I said Yes
Holt: Mommmmmmmmy (screaming)
Me: WHAT??????
Holt: Jesus loves me! (hugging himself)
Me: You're right buddy, he does
Holt: Yip

The loudness and craziness of my home at that moment on Sunday evening... well, it all disappeared. Our crazy, strong-willed son was able to bring us all back to reality for a smidge of time. It's amazing what you can learn from your children. I just hope we don't miss the next lesson b/c we're too busy deciphering life amongst the screaming and crying.
